The key is to use sub-queries (InfluxDB 1.2+) to capture each tag's measurements separately. Then, since the field names are the same, they need to be renamed. Choose the ‘ Outer join ‘ transformation and choose the Field name ‘instance’. This field is the common field for both queries and Grafana will now display both metric series in one row!
