I've seen a few comparisons that have left me on the fence and unsure about pulling the trigger on it. I'm a little worried about the tone being too boxy compared to its 12" brethren. WebSep 24, 2009 · The Marshall 4x12 was originally intended as a bass cab. Since the 25 watt Celestions used were guitar drivers it was less than stellar in the low end, but the same applied to the original SVT, and for that matter most bass cabs of that period. If this cab is loaded with guitar drivers it will work, with a vintage, ie., thin bottom, tone.
